Both the lace closure and lace frontal are hair extensions pieces that come separate from the weave, sew on a lace material, that give a woman that natural-look finish at the hairline at the forehead. This means you don’t have to go through the hassle of blending the hair extensions and your own natural hair.

The difference between a closure and a frontal, is just the size! This is in terms of the length. Closures, fit on the forehead from temple to temple and come in sizes of 3.5x4, 4x4 or 5x5 inches. While the frontals are rather lengthier in size, that is from ear to ear and come in sizes of 13x4 and 13x6.

Closures give you limited hair partings and styling since they are just a section of hair provided, which you can only part either side or middle. On the other hand, frontals give you versatility in terms of hair partings and styling. With frontals you could actually have an top knot, cornrows and braids quite comfortably.

Kindly note that the width of the closure or frontal matters a lot in giving the user a realistic look when making hair partings. Hair partings get to be more realistic when they are done long and hence having a wider closure or frontal is wise. It is important that you pluck your closure or frontal to give it a more natural and realistic look by just lowering the density of hair on the hairline. Hairlines tend to have less density at the temples and therefore for your hair extension styling to look natural and realistic, plucking to lower density is important. Some closures and frontals come pre-plucked or customized from the manufacturers and so, if you can afford those, the better.

In terms of textures, both the closure and frontal are available in straight, body wave, water wave, loose wave, curls and kinky. Whereas the closures are cheaper because they are small pieces with limited hair parting and styling options, the frontals on the other hand are expensive.

Installing the two extensions can be done by gluing or sewing in or even installed as a wig.

The choice is yours, all you need is your hair extension piece and great installation skill.
