HOW MANY BUNDLES DO YOU NEED?

The number of hair bundles to use is determined by what style you are doing. The styles range from a closure, sew-in, leave-out, vixen frontal and tracking etc.

When choosing your the number of bundles to use, apart from style, the lengths are also another important factor to consider. So, when you look at an example of a 10" straight bundle or which ever texture, compared with a 30"straight bundle, you will realize that the 10" bundle has longer wefts, meaning more hair than the 30" bundle with less hair. This means that the longer the hair bundle, the shorter the wefts. This is because hair bundles are sold by weight, at 100 gms (0.1 kg) per bundle and all hair lengths have the same weight.

So, if you are going for a shorter hair style of between 10" to 16" hair bundles, with a closure/frontal or a leave-out, you only need two (2) bundles.

The general rule of thumb is, the longer the wefts, that means short hair length, the fewer bundles required. See, the illustration below:-

  1. 8" to 14" hair bundle length - you will need two (2) hair bundles, why? because short hair has long hair wefts and thicker ends since the hair is more. This is for normal looking fullness.

  2. 16" to 22" hair bundle length - you will need three (3) hair bundles, why? because long hair has short hair wefts and hence thinner ends because the hair is scanty at the ends. This is for normal looking fullness.

  3. 24" to 30" - you will need four (4) to five (5) bundles. Kindly note that when going longer than 22" the more scanty the hair becomes and therefore, we recommend that you double up on the longest length of your hair to have thicker ends. This is for normal looking fullness.

The above illustrations, are for a hair do with a leave-out or closure.

For leave out and the closure sew-ins, or making a wig, when you are using a frontal it is different because they are from ear to ear and are normally from 2" to 4" deep towards the crown, hence covers more space than leave-out and a closure. Therefore, for 8" to 16"/18" bundle length, two (2) bundles would suffice. Anything past 18" to 24" length, we recommend three (3) bundles of hair will be good for a frontal sew-in. Above 24" length, we recommend four (4) hair bundles with a frontal.

For a vixen sew-in, vixen is the ability to have your sew-in or crotchet styling, part into sections. With this, 8" to 20" lengths, you would require two and half (21/2) hair bundles and from 20" to 26" lengths, you would need three (3) hair bundles.

As for tracking or rows, this is when you have your natural hair but would like to add either length or volumes. With this, you need the least amount of hair. If you need length from 8" to 16" lengths you will need one (1) hair bundle while for 18" to 22" hair lengths, two (2) bundles will be enough. Past 24" hair lengths, two and half (21/2). For thickness, just two (2) bundles would suffice.
